In a whirlwind two years, Mickey Lee has exhibited at NADA New York, Felix, One Trick Pony and half gallery annex. She was namechecked in The New York Times and Vanity Fair, and has been profiled in Muse magazine and on artnet.com. This 26 year old Berkeley graduate splits her time between New York and Los Angeles, where she once assisted painter Jonas Wood.


“In the 1998 smash hit single “Closing Time” alt-rock sensation Semisonic ended the song with one of the most iconic lyrics of all time: “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” 


In her new show of dream-like paintings Mickey Lee comes to the same conclusion. The haunting nude figures suspended in surreal landscapes seem to be telling me that its time to go. They encourage me to cherish the last few lines of this chapter as they will soon be ushering in the next one whether I like it or not. As with any new beginning there are feelings of trepidation, but the motherly muses are not going to let me stand still.”
