Half Gallery is pleased to present Hanna Liden: As Black as Your Hat, opening Friday, April 16 from 6-8 p.m. Liden's new series of photographs, accompanied by a neon-pentagram sculpture, continue her exploration of religious rite and gothic subculture through brooding still-life images of melting candles.

Hanna Liden's work has been included in several notable exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad. Recent solo exhibitions include Rivington Arms (2006 and 2004); group exhibitions include: "Market" (curated by Haley Mellin, Rental, New York, NY 2008); "In a Silent Conversation with Ingmar Bergman" (Kunstmuseum Thun, Switzerland, 2008); "Compulsive" (curated by Nate Lowman and Haley Mellin, Palais de Tokyo, Paris 2007); and "Day For Night" (Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, curated by Chrissie Iles and Philippe Vergne, 2006).

Liden's photography has been featured in several prominent publications, including: V Magazine, New York Magazine, Art in America, The New York Times, and Vice. Liden was born in 1976 in Stockholm, Sweden. She graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2002 with a BFA in Photography.
